Integers unit exercise apscert class 7

ABSOLUTE VALUE:

Numerical value of an integer without considering it's sign is the absolute value of integer.
The absolute value of a number is always non negative. Absolute value of a is denoted by | x |. Read it as modulus of x.

Examples:

i) | –50 | = 50
ii) | 60 | = 60
iii) | –701 | = 701
iv) | 0 | = 0
v) If x > 5, then |x – 5| = x – 5
vi) If x < 5, then |x – 5| = 5 – x

If x > 0, then | x | = x
If x < 0, then | x | = –x
If x = 0, then | x | = 0

UNIT EXERCISE

i) 8 × (–1) = – 8
ii) (–2) × 175 = –350
iii) (–3) × (–40)= +120
iv) (–24) × (–7)= +168
v) (–7) ÷ (–1) = +7
vi) (–12) ÷ (+6)=–2
vii) (–49) ÷ (–7)= +7
viii) (+63) ÷ (–9)= –7
i) (–7) × (–3) = 21
ii) 7 × (–6) = –42
iii)   8   × (– 9) = –72
iv) (–12)× (–11) = 132
v) (–25) ÷ (–25) =1
vi) (42) ÷ (–7) = –6
vii) (–90)÷ (–15) = 6
viii) (–144)÷ (–9) = 16
(–5) × 10 = – 50;  (–10) × 5= –50
(–2)× 25 = – 50;  (–25)× 2= –50
Profit on one kg of pomegranates = ₹ 11
Profit on 75 kg of pomegranates = 75 × ₹11 = ₹825
Loss on one kg oranges = − ₹8
loss on 100kg of oranges = 100 × (− ₹8) = − ₹800
total=₹825 + (−₹800) =₹25
∴He got the profit of ₹25.
Bhargavi losing calories in June = 5700
number of days in June = 30
calories lost by Bhargavi in a day = 5700 ÷ 30 = 190
∴Bhargavi lost 190 calories in a day in June.
625 × (−35) + (625) × (30)
= (625) × [ (−35) + 30] (Distributive law)
= (625) × (−5) = −3125
i) 12 – 36 ÷ 3   (Division)
=12 – 12    (Subtraction)
= 0
ii) 6 × (–7) + (–3) ÷ 3   (Division)
=6 × (–7) + (–1)   (Multiplication)
= (–42) + (–1)   (Addition)
= –43 iii) 38 – {35 – (36 – 34 – 37)}    (Vinculum)
=38 – {35 – (36 – – 3)}   (Vinculum)
=38 – {35 – (36 + 3)}   (Simple bracket)
=38 – {35 – 39}   ( Curly bracket)
=38 – {– 4}   ( Curly bracket)
= 38 + 4   (Addition)
= 42
i) −700
| –700 | = 700
ii) 150
| 150 | = 150
iv) −35
| –35 | = 35
v) If p < 10, then |p −10|= 10 −p
vi) If y > 7, then |7 − y|=y −7
